History

The history of the company goes back to the year 1854. It was in this year that Johannes Bürk from Schwenningen registered at the world exhibition in Paris with "mathematical devices" founding the BÜRK "Württembergische Uhrenfabrik" in 1855.

In addition to producing time recorders, Richard Bürk, who ran the company following the death of his father Johannes, introduced a work registration machine in 1879. This was followed in 1897 by a card device with a cut-off facility.

In 1900 the "Württembergische Uhrenfabrik" BÜRK Söhne concluded a licensing agreement for the manufacture of time recorders in accordance with the "Bundy-System"; the company "International Time Recording Co." (ITR) was founded. In 1911, by merging with other companies, ITR became "Computing Tabulating Recording" (CTR), from which IBM ("International Business Machines") later developed.

In the year 1912, the Bürk Universal No. 50 time recorder came onto the market and manufacture continued into 1996. In the 20s, in-house production of electrical master and slave recorders was started, creating the high degree of recognition for the "Bürk" name, which continues to this day.

In 1984, the Württembergische Uhrenfabrik Bürk Söhne filed for bankruptcy. Kienzle-Uhren continued to run the company under the name "Bürk Zeitsysteme", – part of the Dufa Deutsche Uhrenfabrik from 1989 – but was also forced to declare bankruptcy at the end of 1996.

BÜRK MOBATIME GmbH was created from "Bürk Zeitsysteme" in January 1997. The partners are the former director of the company, Dipl.-Wirt.Ing. Michael Schoettle, and the traditional Swiss company "Moser Baer AG" with headquarters at Sumiswald near Bern. BÜRK MOBATIME GmbH has obtained all Bürk brand rights and the product range (with unchanged quality standards) and continues to fully maintain the customer relationships and distribution partnerships that have been in place for many years.

In conjunction with the technological strength and innovative power of the internationally active MOBATIME group, BÜRK MOBATIME GmbH is today considered one of the leading providers in the time engineering and electronic time recorder sector.
